Heart Rate & Fitness
Calculators for training by heart rate and checking your running fitness. Each shows the formula it uses; none of them is medical advice.
What is here
The max heart rate calculator compares the three common formulas for your age. The heart rate zone calculator turns your maximum (and, if you add it, your resting heart rate) into five training zones, and the zone 2 calculator gives the easy-running range on its own. The VO2 max calculator estimates aerobic fitness from a race or a 12-minute test, and the running cadence calculator measures steps per minute.
Heart rate formulas are averages: real maximums differ by about 10 beats per minute or more, so a measured value is better when you have one. These tools give general estimates for healthy adults. If you have a heart condition, chest pain, dizziness or take medication that changes heart rate, ask a doctor before training by heart rate.
